Biography
Leila Ghandchi (born 1982, Tehran, Iran) is a contemporary artist whose
multidisciplinary practice explores themes of perception, fragility, and existential crises
through a blend of symbolic imagery and diverse materials. Since beginning her
professional career in 2011, she has developed a distinctive visual language that
merges poetic elegance with profound conceptual depth.
In recent years, her focus has shifted toward the psychology of perception, particularly how individuals and societies process trauma, especially in the context of the Middle East’s socio-political turmoil.
Life, death, resilience, and vulnerability recur in her work, often rendered with a
haunting, lyrical quality. While comprehensive records of her shows are scarce in Western archives, her work aligns with a generation of Iranian female artists who interrogate identity and crisis through metaphor. Her inclusion in regional biennales or Tehran’s contemporary art spaces.
