Omid Hallaj

Overview

Omid Hallaj, born in 1979 in Tehran, holds a bachelor's degree in painting. His serious artistic journey began in 1994 when he entered Sooreh Art School. He participated in his first group exhibition in 1996 and held his first solo exhibition in 1998. Initially, the themes of his works revolved around creating and exploring a mental and imaginary world, with an evident influence of Persian miniature painting and the abstraction of Iranian art in his creations.
Over time, his work became increasingly influenced by external events, leading to the emergence of critical layers and social and human concepts in his pieces. Despite these shifts, a constant in his artistic career has been his exploration of existence, creating ideological and mental spaces with a fluid nature oscillating between existence and nonexistence, life and death, and beyond.
In addition to painting, the sculpture has been a secondary artistic pursuit for him over the years. His portfolio includes 10 solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions.
