* Sepideh Farzam Wins 2025 Australian Muslim Artists Art Prize at Islamic Museum of Australia

AVA Gallery is thrilled to announce that our artist Sepideh Farzam has been awarded the 2025 Australian Muslim Artists (AMA) Art Prize, presented in collaboration with the Islamic Museum of Australia and La Trobe University.
Farzam’s winning piece, Threads of Red Silence, is a deeply evocative mixed-media installation that powerfully speaks to themes of trauma, resilience, and peace. The work—featuring a red handwoven kilim, waxed threads affixed with band-aids, scattered marbles, and dove motifs—navigates the terrain between collective memory and the possibility of healing.
Dr. Mahmoud Mohammed, Senior Curator at the Islamic Museum of Australia, praised the work as “a masterclass in material storytelling,” noting its capacity to weave heritage and humanity into a visual dialogue.
As an acquisitive prize, Threads of Red Silence will become part of the La Trobe University Art Collection, ensuring Farzam’s work is preserved and appreciated within a significant institutional setting. The exhibition featuring the award winners is on view at the Islamic Museum of Australia from 15 August to 8 November 2025.
